And if you happen to be fond of listening to pahadi songs, then it’s obvious you can’t miss the name’ Sangeeta Dhoundiyal’, a singer from Uttarakhand, who is known for giving some hit pahadi tracks. Having roots from Pauri, Bangredi village in Baijron, She resides in Dehradun. As it’s said, “coming events cast their shadow before”, so when she was just 5 years of age she performed on stage. Since childhood she was very much interested in music. Her father, who was already known for his melodious voice, became her first guru.
Then she Joined Shri Jeet Singh Negi ji and his group ‘Parvartiya Kala Manch’ as a child artist. As she decided to follow her passion, she did her graduation in Music and learnt more of it in Gandharva Vidhalaya, Delhi. After getting formal training from so many gurus, in 1997, she gave her audition for T-Series. Her first break was for a Garhwali album ‘Baand Rauteli’. Since then, there is no turning back for her. She has sung for more than 600 albums for companies like T-Series, Rama, Neelam, Rami and lot many and also sung these songs in Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari, Himachali, Nepali, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, and in Hindi.
She feels privileged that she could contribute in making her state’s culture, reach to the greater audience. She wants to spread pahadi culture all over the world and feels that for this not only she but all the artists are working in their own ways.
