According to Hindu mythology, It is said that in order to get rid of obstacles in any kind of worship rituals etc., it is necessary to worship Lord Ganesha, firstly. And it is believed that this whole creation is a group of atoms and different energies. If there was no supreme law governing the various entities of this entire creation, there would have been a lot of turmoil. Lord Ganesha is the lord of all these atoms and clusters of energies. He is the Supreme Consciousness who is all-pervading and establishes an order in this universe. Ganesha is the formless divinity who is established in a supernatural form for the benefit of the devotee.

Lord Ganesha is the favorite one among kids also. It’s believed that happiness and prosperity comes along with lord Ganesha. In India, people wait to for his homecoming during Ganesh Chaturthi. This day marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha. This festival is marked on the fourth day of the Bhadrapada month in the Hindu calendar, which falls in August-September. Although, this 10 day festival is celebrated with a zeal across the country but you can witness this with much fanfare in Maharashtra with Lakhs of devotees converting into mandals.

The festival brings a sense of joy amongst the people, as the entire community, friends and family gather and join in the auspicious celebration. You can have this celebration at your home or at a public place as well. On these days, the house are decorated, the families sing and dance and many cultural events are held in the communities. Special sweet such as modaks (another special reason to wait for Ganesha Chaturthi) are served to the family as well as the idol.

Then comes the grand final day, where you can witness the true spirit of Indian celebrations. festival ends with the ‘Ganesh Visarjan’ where the idols are immersed in the water; it is done as a procession with millions of people accompanying the idol along with a lot of music and dance. And everyone wishes for the arrival of Lord Ganesha soon.

Though, the festival may end, but those ten days gives you the wonderful feeling undefined in words. It feels that a very close relative of yours has left you and your home. The feeling of missing Lord Ganesha dwells in every heart. Amidst this Pandemic, the celebration may be not that large scale and grand. Bit we will surely welcome our dearest lord Ganesha with that same spirit and zeal.
